How *NOT* to backup your data

 

So I just switched from Debian to Ubuntu Server and before doing so I backed up everything important. So I dumped the databases, websites and subversion repositories into the server’s samba folder so I could download them to my desktop.

Ok done that and formatted the hard disk to install ubuntu. Ok everything worked as excepted and after installing apache, mysql and subversion I noticed something… I didn’t copied the created backups to my desktop.

If you ever delete some files that you think you have backups double check that you really have the backups. I’m such a hero…
